Delaford Colts Football Club
Back in 1980, three men with footballing sons were unhappy with the way football was being organised in Iver Village, at this point they formed Delaford Colts FC.
Thirty seven years later the club has gone from strength to strength and continues to grow with the hard work and support from all Committee members past and present, children and parents.
Our current Chairman has been involved in the club for 32 years and took over being chairman seventeen years ago after managing two teams himself.
The most rewarding part of being involved in the club is seeing Children enjoying playing football in a safe and controlled environment. We have children from four years old training alongside our 11 teams that play at the weekends ranging from U7’s to Mens.
All our Managers are at least level 1 qualified with safeguarding, First Aid & FA CRB; all our volunteers have a FA CRB & Safeguarding.
The feeling in the club at the moment is very positive – everyone is looking towards the future of Delaford Colts; we have had a great start to the season throughout the club which reflects in the attitudes of players and parents.
Over the coming season we plan to do more Development Days where we have all age groups learning new and different approaches for children to bring to the pitch.
We train from the age of four years old – Mini Colts, we have noticed it gives them a great bond as a team and is beneficial in their development.
Our managers set up all their own training sessions, keeping it fresh and interesting every week, they are always happy to listen to parent feedback.
All our age groups train within the same environment; this means that the youth get to see what they can develop to achieve as they get older and move into the senior game.
We are a community club that are affiliated with the Berks & Bucks FA and are also a Charter Standard Club, winning Charter Standard Club of the Year in 2013. We have children from all over the area that play us and are always happy to welcome new players of all standards to the club. We play in the Thames Valley, South Bucks & East Berks Football League.
If the club continues to grow one of our biggest challenges will be finding space to accommodate all the teams to play matches. We have a great relationship with the Iver Parish Council and the FA.
In 2012, our new Community Pavilion opened with fantastic facilities for our Children and Adults to use at the weekend. It was a joint venture between us, Iver Council and the Football Foundation, who deliver funding from the Premier League, The FA and the Government through Sport England.
We are a club committed to keeping costs at a minimum for parents so our sponsors are appreciated greatly and throughout the season we hold various fundraising events. These normally include a visit from Trotter, our Club Mascot.
As a club we are grateful to all our Sponsors, each team carries their own sponsors logo. We have a club sponsor called Relay who are a local company to us that have continued to sponsor us over the last few years.
